Choosing Your Oracle Card Size

We offer five different sizes for our custom oracle card decks – Traditional (70 x 120mm), Tall (89 x 146mm), Wide (85 x 120mm), Large (89 x 127mm), and Pocket also known as mini (63 x 88mm).

  • Our Traditional Tarot size measures at 70 x 120mm, this size holds historical significance tied to the original Rider-Waite tarot deck and due to its popularity and familiarity, it became the most used size for all oracle and tarot cards. The traditional tarot size allows for easy shuffling and handling, making it a comfortable size to choose for oracle readings.
  • Our Pocket Tarot (mini) size is perfect for those who are looking for a portable deck that can be easily carried in a bag or purse. Measuring at 63 x 88mm, the smaller size makes it easier to handle the cards during oracle readings, allowing for more control.
  • Our Large Tarot size is perfect for showcasing the intricate details of your artwork on the cards. Measuring at 89 x 127mm, these larger tarot cards are best suited for anyone who wants a more entrancing tarot reading or who prefer to spread their tarot cards out on a table.
  • Our Wide Tarot size offers a more practical advantage as they are easier to hold during readings, especially for someone who prefers a more substantial feel to their cards. Measuring at 85 x 120mm, our wide tarot size is perfect for showing off intricate details in artwork that would be lost on a smaller size.
  • Our Tall Tarot size (89 x 146mm) can be great for specific types of readings where you need the illustrations to be easier to see, which can be especially useful for any readings that require more intense focus on the cards and their meanings.

How To: Design Your Own Oracle Cards

We're here to help! Read our extensive guide on how you can start creating your own oracle cards.

Designing your own oracle cards is a deeply personal and creative process that allows you to infuse your unique vision, wisdom, and intention into a deck that can serve as a tool for insight, guidance, and inspiration. Here's our guide to get you started:

  1. Define your Intention: Start by considering the purpose of your deck. What do you want it to convey? Are you focusing on healing, inspiration, personal growth, or something else? Your intention will guide the theme, imagery, and messages of your cards.
  2. Choose a Theme: Your theme is the thread that weaves your deck together, giving it coherence and depth. It could be anything from nature, animals, mythology, or daily affirmations to more abstract concepts like emotions or dreams. Ensure your theme resonates with you deeply and aligns with your intention.
  3. Develop the Concept: Decide how many cards your deck will have and start brainstorming the content for each card. This could involve writing down keywords, phrases, or affirmations, and outlining the imagery or symbolism you wish to incorporate. Remember, oracle cards often rely on a mix of visual and textual elements to convey their message.
  4. Design the Artwork: Whether you're an artist creating your own illustrations or collaborating with someone else, the imagery should speak to the theme and essence of each card. Consider the style, colours, and symbols that will best represent your vision. Digital tools and platforms can be incredibly helpful in bringing your designs to life, offering a range of artistic capabilities.
  5. Write a Guidebook: Many oracle decks come with a guidebook that provides additional insights about each card's meaning and suggestions on how to use them. Writing a guidebook is an opportunity to deepen the user's experience, offering your perspective on the cards and advising on layouts or reading methods.
  6. Choose your Materials & Printer: The tactile experience of an oracle deck is an integral part of its charm. Consider the quality of the cardstock, the style of packaging (latch, tuck, or rigid boxes), and any additional features like foiling or metallic ink. We pride ourselves on our commitment to producing high-quality, sustainable oracle decks, using CE/UKCA certified products, FSC® certified materials, and sustainable energy sources.

Designing your own oracle cards is a journey of creativity, soul-searching, and connection. At Ivory, we're honoured to support creators like you in bringing your visionary decks to life, ensuring every card you design not only carries your message but does so with an unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability. Embrace the process and let your uniqueness show in your pack.

How To: Publish Your Oracle Deck

Ordering your custom tarot card deck is super easy! Here's how our process works:

  1. Prototype and Test:
    • Try a free test pack: Create a free physical prototype of your deck with Ivory. This step is crucial for assessing the look and feel of your cards, and it offers a chance for you to make any adjustments.
    • Gather feedback: Share your tester pack with your trusted peers or potential users to gain valuable insights and suggestions for improvement.
  2. The Right Printing Partner:
    • Quality and sustainability: At Ivory, we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and supporting creators with CE/UKCA certified products and FSC® certified materials.
    • Costs and quantities: Discuss printing costs, minimum order quantities, and the scalability of your project. It's essential to balance quality with affordability.
  3. Legal Considerations:
    • Copyrights and trademarks: Ensure your artwork and content are protected. Consider registering copyrights for your artwork and text.
    • Legal compliance: Ensure your product complies with any applicable laws, including safety standards and import/export regulations. Contact us at info@ivory.co.uk if you have any questions.
  4. Plan Your Marketing and Distribution:
    • Build your audience: Utilise social media, content marketing, and networking to build anticipation and connect with potential customers.
    • Choose your sales channels: Decide whether to sell directly through your website, through online marketplaces, in local stores, or a combination of these.
    • Consider crowdfunding: Platforms like Kickstarter can offer a way to gauge interest, secure funding, and build a community around your deck before full-scale production.
  5. Publish and Distribute:
    • Launch your deck: Plan a launch that can include online promotions, a launch event, or collaborations with influencers in your niche.
    • Fulfil orders: Ensure you have a reliable process for fulfilling orders, whether handling it yourself or through a fulfilment partner.
  6. Support Your New Community:
    • Engage with your audience: Offer workshops, readings, or online content to support and engage with your community.
    • Gather feedback: Use feedback from your customers for future projects or iterations of your deck.

Publishing your oracle deck is a journey of creativity, connection, and personal growth. At Ivory, we're dedicated to supporting you through every step of this process, from concept to creation to the moment your deck reaches the hands of those who will find inspiration within it. Our expertise in manufacturing card packs in the UK, combined with our commitment to sustainability and quality, ensures that your oracle deck not only meets the highest standards but also respects the planet and its resources.
